FAITH in ACTION:
Our Grantmaking Philosophy
OUR PHILOSOPHY
The Westerman Foundation is deeply committed to advancing Catholic education and strengthening organizations that serve individuals, families, and communities in need. Guided by the principles of Catholic Social Teaching, we believe in the inherent dignity of every person and in our shared responsibility to care for one another, strengthen families, serve those who are most vulnerable, and contribute to the common good.
CATHOLIC EDUCATION
Catholic education is central to our mission. We believe it plays a vital role in forming young people in faith, character, and service while preparing them to lead lives grounded in compassion, integrity, and purpose. By supporting Catholic schools and educational initiatives, the Foundation seeks to help ensure that students—regardless of their economic circumstances—have access to an education that nurtures both intellectual growth and spiritual formation.
FAITH IN ACTION
Beyond education, the Foundation supports organizations that put faith into actions by addressing the needs of individuals and families experiencing poverty, hardship, or uncertainty. Rooted in the Catholic principles of solidarity and subsidiarity, we believe lasting change is often achieved through organizations that understand their communities, respond to local needs, and empower individuals and families to builder greater stability and self-sufficiency.
PARTNERSHIP & IMPACT
Through our grantmaking, we seek to partner with organizations that uphold the dignity of the human person, demonstrate a preferential concern for those in need, strengthen families and communities, and create opportunities for individuals to flourish. We recognize that this work is made possible by dedicated leaders, educators, staff, and volunteers who live out these values through compassionate and purposeful service. The Westerman Foundation is honored to support organizations that embody these principles and to partner in work that strengthens communities, serves our neighbors, and advances the common good.
